THE STORY: A note from Kelly
A few years ago, 6 of my friends got married. In preparation for a summer filled with wedding bliss I thought to myself “what in the world do I get my friends who are all skiers, as a wedding gift?” Wedding gifts are supposed to be household items, right? So I gave them ski pole plungers and said “congratulations on taking the plunge!” Lucky for me I have some pretty hilarious friends with great senses of humour and they haven’t written me out of their new lives –yet.
Since then, the ski pole plungers have consistently been the most talked about items in my friends’ houses. Very rarely does someone leave the bathroom without remarking on the hilarious toilet plunger sitting next to the toilet. BigDump Plungers, the business, was then my capstone Marketing project while I completed my Business degree at Montana State University. In our capstone, we had to come up with full-fledged marketing and business plans for a hard to market item. What's harder to market than a toilet plunger?
Needless to say I aced my project and figured when I graduated, holy shit, when else in my life am I going to start a toilet plunger company?
BigDump Plungers has grown from a University project and business model concept into a successful business. I call myself an entre-poo-neur and the process of starting a business from the ground up has been equal parts challenging and rewarding. I am grateful for the experience and cannot wait to see where it takes me.
Thanks for stopping by!
